A Taiwan lawmaker has called on the government to crackdown on online platforms advertising sports betting.
Taiwan prosecutors have indicted 32 people, including a billionaire, for running an online gambling platform and engaging in money laundering, with earnings of about NT$59.4 billion ($2.13 billion.) The platform, known as GPK Bet, has been in operation since 2014.
Ganapati PLC founder Hayato Kinoshita has been indicted by Taiwanese prosecutors along with a dozen other people for illegally operating online gambling, rejecting defense arguments that they were several steps distant from any legal violations.
