China lottery profits triple for Vodone

Profits from Vodone Ltd.’s Chinese lottery operations more than tripled to HK$11.9 million ($1.5 million) in the first half of 2013 from HK$3.7 million a year earlier.

Segment revenues for the Hong Kong-listed company similarly rose to HK$47.5 million from HK$17.6 million.

The company said sales volumes on its Zhongguo Zucaiwang lottery games website doubled from last year, with more than 100,000 new users added, helped by the company’s sponsorship of the Liaoning Whowin Football Club in the Chinese Super League. Meanwhile, downloads of the company’s Lottery 365 mobile phone app have exceeded 10 million, the company said.
