Gaming revenues from Malaysia, the US and the UK rose at similar rates, boosting leisure and hospitality revenues for Genting Malaysia Bhd.
5.4 percent to 2.2 billion ringgit ($663.9 million) in the second quarter from a year earlier. Profits however were sharply divergent. Adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization from US operations rose 40.4 percent to 85.1 million ringgit while they fell 44 percent in the UK to 72.9 million ringgit and were down just 2 percent in Malaysia at 549.3 million ringgit. The Bursa Malaysia-listed company cited higher promotional expenses in Malaysia and larger bad debt write offs in the UK.
