Zhou Zhao was sentenced to five months’ home detention and Xiao Dong Lu to 350 hours of community work for their part in a NZ$52,000 ($41,000) cheating scam at the SkyCity Hamilton casino. Zhao has repaid his NZ$13,000 share of the proceeds but Lu has only repaid NZ$4,000 of her NZ$13,000. Roulette dealer Bo Du, who allowed Zhao and Lu to bet after the roulette ball had already dropped, was earlier sentenced to nine months’ home detention and ordered to repay NZ$26,000. Lu is to be deported back to China.
