License renewals for Shangri-La and Grand


The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation signalled it would renew the license of the Casino Shangri-La in Kathmandu and the Casino Grand in Pokhara as they had moved to  pay up taxes and fees due the government which had issued an ultimatum to the country’s 10 casinos. Officials said Mahjong Entertainment, the new operator of Casino Nepal, had paid 13.7 million rupees ($160,000) and pledged to pay other amounts outstanding.
