Macau GGR continues to improve, visitation at 15-month high

Macau’s gross gambling revenue continued to show a small sequential improvement in the third week of April, with visitation hitting a 15-month high, according to Bernstein Research.

GGR rose 3 percent to an average daily rate of MOP300 million helped by better mass traffic and high VIP hold.

However, Bernstein continues to caution that it doesn’t expect a more meaningful pick up until China drops some of its testing restrictions to visit Macau and resumes the issuance of individual visit scheme visas electronically.

A reopening with Hong Kong, which accounts for 15 percent of Macau’s GGR would also be a significant boost, but the government is stressing that Hong Kong needs to go 14 days without any local transmission for that to happen.
