Macau to penalize 16 venues over air tests

Cheong U, secretary for social affairs and culture, said that 16 gaming venues will be required to reduce their smoking area after fall short on air quality tests for a second time.

Macau’s 46 casinos and slot parlors were required at the beginning of the year to designate half their gaming floor space as a non-smoking area but 28 of the venues failed a first round of tests of the air in their non-smking areas in April. Cheong did not name the venues to be penalized, but said the results of the tests and the penalties would be announced soon.
