Meydan to hold Chengdu race

Dubai’s state-owned Meydan Group is to partner with the Wenjiang district of Chengdu to hold an international race meeting in October. The project supercedes plans Meydan announced three years ago for a $4 billion ‘horse city’ in Tianjin as the company has since split with its partner on that effort. Meydan has held races in Dubai without betting but an increasingly rich purse for 18 years. Betting will not be part of the Chengdu race either as wagering on horses is banned in China.
