Myanmar police seize China-made gambling machines in raid

In a raid on a children’s amusement centre in the city of Mawlamyine, capital of Mon State, Myanmar, a 20-strong police team seized 16 gambling machines that were mixed with the children’s gaming machines.

Police detained 23 gamblers and the center’s manager, Myint Than, all of whom were later released on bail.  A number of people drinking beer in a bar at the back of the center were also detained but released without charge.  Customers at the center said that the machines had been installed three to four months prior and that many young people came there to play on them, some of them losing millions of Kyat.
