New rules force slot parlour closures

New rules governing the location of slot machine parlours have caused Melco Crown Entertainment Ltd’s subsidiary, Mocha Clubs, to announce the closure of two of its slot clubs.

The Mocha Hotel Tapia Best Western and the Mocha Lan Kwai Fong are to close on November 26, while the Mocha Marina Plaza parlour will be relocated.  The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau has said that, out of five parlours that must be relocated until November 26 only one, SJM Holdings Ltd’s Treasure Hunt Slot Lounge, has applied for operations to be suspended.  Under the new bylaw, slot parlours can be located in five star hotels, within 500 metres of a casino, or in resorts outside residential areas.
