Ozzie Pub group targets free apps

Clubs Australia, the industry group for the country’s pubs, has set up a working group with gaming manufacturers and online gambling experts to develop new rules for free gaming apps. The group said Australians spend A$60 million ($57 million) a year on social media apps that mimic gambling games without offering prize money but there are concerns the games could be accessed by children and allow for betting on credit. The group will develop a code of practice to align social gaming with harm minimization standards that apply to clubs.
