James Packer’s ambitious renovation of Crown Perth’s Burswood resort in Western Australia is paying off as non-gaming amenities helped boost revenues and increase profitability. Despite a fall in overall gaming revenue to $598.8 million in 2012-2103 compared with $634 million in 2011-2012,
Crown Perth still posted an increase of 6.4 percent in earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation. The $240.8 million increase was mainly due to growth of $215 million in non-gaming revenues from the newly revamped resort restaurants and bars, including the Rockpool Bar & Grill, Bistro Guillaume and Nobu. “The extensive capital expenditure program has reinvigorated the resort”, stated the report published by the Gaming and Wagering Commission this week.
