Sands to appeal $70 million verdict over Macau help

Las Vegas Sands Corp. vowed to appeal after a Nevada jury awarded Hong Kong businessman Richard Suen $70 million in a retrial of his claims that the company had not paid him as promised for help in winning a gaming concession in Macau in 2002. Suen also won in the original trial in 2008, but the state supreme court overturned the verdict after finding flaws in evidence admitted in the proceeding. The Sands argued that Suen did not provide meaningful assistance or play a role in the company’s licensing.
