Shanghai police raid underground casino after TV tip

Shanghai police arrested more than 60 people in a raid on an underground casino in a commercial building after receiving a tip from a television station preparing a report on the business.

A reporter who had posed as a customer was told the casino handled more than 1 million renminbi ($163,000) in bets a day on table and slot games. The casino had more than a dozen gambling machines. The casino’s hidden VIP room, whose entrance was found by police behind a mirrored wall, featured tables with 1,000 renminbi minimum bets.
