Singapore to introduce new online regulation

Singapore Minister Mr S Iswaran said the island state intends to ban online gambling, unless there are specific exemptions. Speaking to a symposium on casino regulation and crime,

the minister said the government will introduce new laws to allow enforcement agencies to act against providers and intermediaries of remote gambling services; will block access to gambling websites; prohibit advertising and block payments to online operators. The minister said Singapore may look at a model used by Hong Kong, allowing some form of remote gambling through a strictly regulated, authorized entity.
