Smoky casinos could face complete cigarette ban

Anthony Leong Man Ion, deputy director of the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, said he would favor banning all smoking in casinos that fail to meet new air quality standards in their designated smoking areas. He said the government however could offer casinos with worse air quality perhaps six months to improve conditions. The government also warned that it would reduce or totally ban smoking areas in a given property if operators did not comply with air quality standards. Some casino workers groups have called for a full smoking ban, along with legislator and SJM executive director, Angela Leong.
