Trial of Crown bouncers opens

The trial of three bouncers from the Crown Casino in Melbourne over a clash with two customers opened this week. The three face charges of assault, recklessly causing serious injury, intentionally causing injury and false imprisonment in relation to a a struggle with a couple who were following another group of three bouncers who were escorting the couple’s friend out of the casino for drunkeness. Those three bouncers were acquitted last year over the death of the friend, Anthony Dunning, who suffered a heart attack during the incident. The defense this week argued the bouncers acted in self defense while prosecutors said the men used excessive force.
